Who We Are
As the first student chapter in the Central Valley, our role is to engage our community with MSF’s work and promote its campaigns:
-
Raise awareness and knowledge about MSF’s work in the field and about humanitarian issues.
-
Encourage students to consider working with non-governmental organizations, such as MSF, post-graduation.
-
Support MSF in advocacy campaigns.
-
Raise money for MSF, our work in the field, and specific campaigns.

Activities
Doctors Without Borders Fresno State Chapter organizes many events,
all of which help promote MSF's goals.

Speaker Events
At Doctors Without Borders Fresno State Chapter, all prospective medical and non-medical aid workers are invited to join us for a presentation and question & answer session to learn more about how you can contribute to Doctors Without Borders' field work. A field worker from Médecins Sans Frontières will speak about their involvement with MSF and discuss requirements and the recruitment process.
Film Nights
At film nights, MSF Fresno State watches a film about the international organization and discusses themes and observations afterward as a group. The films increase knowledge and exposure to what happens on the field and the challenges field workers face.

Advocacy Campaigns
As a student chapter, our aim is to be the voice of MSF and support MSF's Access Campaigns. Dr. James Orbinski, MSF International President boldly stated during the acceptance of the 1999 Nobel Peace Prize: "What we as a civil society movement demand is change, not charity."

MSF aid workers, together with student chapters, bring down barriers that keep people from getting the treatment they need to stay alive and healthy. We advocate for effective drugs, tests and vaccines that are: available, affordable, suited to the people we care for, and adapted to the places where they live.
